Custom Guided River & Lake Fishing Experience

Captain Christopher Johnson has spent over 15 years mastering the freshwater fisheries across California’s rivers, lakes, and sloughs. Raised with a deep passion for the outdoors, he learned early on how water clarity, seasonal shifts, and subtle weather patterns influence local fish movement. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation for his calm professionalism, keen instincts, and intuitive ability to read complex freshwater environments. By drawing on his extensive local knowledge, Captain Johnson prepares every outing around current conditions to give guests an authentic, well-planned experience on the water. As a versatile guide skilled in drift fishing, fly fishing, lake trolling, and light-tackle techniques, Captain Johnson works comfortably with anglers of every background. He has coached complete novices through their very first casts, supported family outings on scenic waters, and guided experienced fishermen in pursuit of species like Striped Bass, Rainbow Trout, and Sturgeon. Rather than using complicated jargon, he breaks down river strategies and fish behavior into simple, practical insights that help guests feel confident and capable throughout the day. At the heart of Captain Johnson’s guiding philosophy is an approachable, patient style that immediately puts guests at ease. He takes pride in creating a welcoming environment on the water, welcoming questions and sharing foundational techniques at a comfortable pace. By balancing hands-on education with a relaxed atmosphere, he helps visitors develop genuine angling skills while fully taking in the outdoor experience. His primary goal is to ensure every person leaves the water with a stronger connection to California’s natural fisheries and memorable moments from their day.
The Boats Behind the Experience
To provide a safe and comfortable environment across diverse waters, Captain Johnson utilizes two well-maintained vessels tailored to different environments. The 22-foot Willie Predator, driven by a reliable 250HP Mercury outboard, is equipped with a modern GPS, fishfinder, trolling motor, and flybridge to handle open lakes and larger river stretches with stability for up to five guests. For smaller creeks, quiet sloughs, and shallow waters, the 14.8-foot Saturn Triton offers a lightweight, paddle-powered platform ideal for stealthy, close-quarters fishing. Both vessels are fully outfitted with essential safety equipment and optimized to give guests a dependable, comfortable day on the water.
